A sinus lift is a surgery to correct the vertical height of the jaw bone in the upper pre-molar and molar areas by adding bone into the sinus. This addition is called the sinus lift. The purpose of a sinus lift is to accommodate the vertical length of the selected implant into the upper jaw. The bone used is either from the patient autogenous or can be synthetic bone.
Bone grafting added into the sinus will increase the vertical height of the bone to accommodate the implant.
Stem cells and growth hormones are also used to increase the vertical height of the bone by the sinus lift procedure.
